Violence Against Women And Girls

As a person with lived experience, Nicola is a compassionate advocate for women and girls who have been subjected to abuse.

Nicola delivers talks and works alongside local organisations to educate on the subject of domestic abuse. She works with local community groups, safeguarding leads, healthcare professionals, schools and charity organisations.

Despite recent progress in mental health awareness, abuse in our society is still very much an every day issue. Due to stigma and cultural conditioning, many of us find it hard to recognise abuse and ask for help. Statutory and charitable organisations exist locally to assist with these matters but for a myriad of reasons individuals are still 'falling through the net' and struggle to get the wraparound trauma-informed support they need.

Navigating services can be a daunting task--too often individuals are left waiting too long. They are offered treatment or programs that are too short-term and not person-centred to meet the individual’s wants or needs.

Nicola offers 1:1 advice free of charge to women and girls who are struggling and may benefit from a longer-term point of contact, or second opinion.

Nicola is available to deliver bespoke talks to groups on understanding domestic abuse and how to best to help. For more information please email: hello@ngadvocacy.co.uk

"Nicola gave a talk to YANA’s volunteers discussing the issue of Domestic Abuse with the aim that people felt empowered to notice the signs and how to have conversations with someone they might be concerned about.

Nicola delivered complex information in a clear and concise manner, with a professional approach. It was a pleasure to work together to deliver a tailored session to meet the charity’s needs"
